So I've decided that keeping a blog will be a good way to keep in touch while I'm in Nairobi for the next few months. I don't know how often I'll have internet and electricity, but I'll try to update as often as possible. Before I depart for Kenya I'm going to be spending my winter break in Vietnam-- excited doesn't even begin to describe it.
Here's the plan for my upcoming adventure:
Dec 28th- Depart for NYC, where I'll be spending the night with the B's before our big flight the next day
Dec 29th-New York to Tokyo to SAIGON!
January 10th-back in good ol' Wisconsin
January 16th- Depart for Nairobi :-)
Once in Nairobi, I'll have a week of orientation at Lake Nakuru National Park with my fellow MSID-ers and then I'll move in with my host family. All I know is that I'm living in 'Magiwa Estates' and I'll have a 9 year old sister and a 4 year old brother-- finally getting the chance to be a big sister! :) Halfway through the semester, I'll be moving out of Nairobi into a more rural area to do an internship in public health.
Just packing up for vietnam, and thinking of a saying I learned in Vietnamese class--
